TONEX Tone Models & Captures
Professional TONEX Tone Models captured from real analog amplifiers, cabinets and pedals, in our own studio, by session players and sound engineers. Every pack is a curated set of mix-ready tones: fewer, better models you can load and play, instead of hundreds to scroll through.

Why Boutique Tones for TONEX
Only real gear. Every Tone Model comes from original analog equipment. We don't capture modelers or plugins, and we don't use loadboxes: every amp is played through our own collection of cabinets, microphones and studio outboard.
Made by players and engineers. Professional session players dial in and play the amps, sound engineers handle the capture chain. The result sits in a mix the moment you load it.
Search less, play more. We select a small number of amps and pedals, and a small number of tones per pack. Each one has a clear purpose, so you spend your time playing, not auditioning.
Official artist packs. Some packs are made together with the artists who own the sound, and every official pack is approved by the artist or brand behind it: BT Steve Lukather, BT Justin Derrico, BT Marco Sfogli, BT Eric Steckel, BT Ciro Manna MkII, and the official Mezzabarba packs.
Tone Models vs DI Tone Models
Our TONEX packs come in two formats. The product page of each pack tells you exactly which one, and how many models are included.
- Tone Models (full rig). The amp, the cabinet and the microphones are captured together. Load it and play: the cab is already part of the sound. Great if you want the exact sound of the pack with nothing else to set.
- DI Tone Models + Custom IRs. The amp is captured on its own, and the cabinet comes as Custom IRs voiced for that specific amp. You get more control: swap the IR, try another cabinet, or use the amp with your own IR library. Most of our recent packs use this format.
Our latest packs, such as BT B100, BT Division 13, BT Shiver and BT XTC 20Th, are made with V2 Tone Models, while our earlier packs use V1 Tone Models. The product page lists the generation of every pack.
Custom IRs and cab options
On packs with DI Tone Models, the IRs are not generic: they are chosen and voiced for that amp. Several packs offer more than one cab option on the product page, from a curated essentials set to the original matching cabinet recreated as IRs. All our IRs are minimum phase, so they blend cleanly with each other and with third-party IRs, and they also work as a standalone cab library in any modeler, amp block or DAW.
Presets and what you get
Every TONEX pack is an instant download: a ZIP file of TONEX presets, because on TONEX every Tone Model is delivered inside a preset. Depending on the pack, presets range from the Tone Model on its own to complete, ready-to-play sounds, and some packs include stereo-ready TONEX Dual presets (BT Royal). Purchases include lifetime access, and if we update a pack you receive the update for free.

Frequently asked questions
Which TONEX devices are compatible?
Our Tone Models work on TONEX Pedal, TONEX One, TONEX One+, TONEX Plug and the TONEX software (standalone and plugin). TONEX CS and the TONEX app for iOS are not compatible, because they do not load third-party Tone Models.
Can I use them without a TONEX pedal?
Yes. The TONEX software runs standalone or as a plugin in your DAW, so you can play and record our Tone Models on your computer without any TONEX hardware.
What's the difference between V1 and V2 Tone Models?
V2 is the newer generation of the TONEX Tone Model format. Our latest packs are made with V2 Tone Models, our earlier packs with V1. Our V1 packs still sound and play beautifully: they come from the same rigs and the same care, so choose a pack for its sound rather than its generation. The product page of every pack shows which generation it uses.
What's the difference between Tone Models and DI Tone Models?
A Tone Model captures the whole rig: amp, cabinet and microphones, so it plays as it is. A DI Tone Model captures only the amp and needs a cabinet IR after it: every DI pack includes Custom IRs voiced for that amp, and you can also use any IR from your own library.
How do I load the packs on my TONEX?
Extract the ZIP file completely first: dragging files straight out of the ZIP is the most common reason the import is blocked. Then open TONEX or TONEX Editor, go to the Presets section (not Tone Models) and drag and drop the preset files there. The two apps stay in sync, and from TONEX Editor you can move presets to your TONEX device. Our TONEX Support Guide shows every step.
What input level should I use?
There is no single number, because every guitar has a different output. In TONEX Settings, open Input Trim, select your bridge pickup and strum as hard as you normally play. Adjust until the meter reads OK, with only occasional High readings, and never constantly in the red.
Why do some clean Tone Models sound quieter?
It comes from the way TONEX normalizes levels and from the extra headroom of clean captures, not from the Tone Model itself. Raise the Amp Volume in the preset, or add a compressor after the amp with the threshold at minimum and use its output gain as extra level.
Can I use a pedal and an amp Tone Model together?
TONEX loads one Tone Model at a time. To run a captured pedal into a captured amp, as with BT Dophix, use two TONEX plugin instances or two TONEX devices: one for the pedal and one for the amp.
Does my purchase include the other platforms?
Each purchase is for one platform, the one you choose on the product page. If you already own a pack and want it for another platform too, write to us: you get the same pack for the second platform at 50% off.
Can I hear a pack before buying?
Yes. Every product page has audio and video demos of the pack. We don't offer trials, and since these are digital files they can't be returned once downloaded, so take a listen to the demos and write to us if you are not sure which pack fits you.
Will my pack be updated?
When we update a pack, you receive an email and the update is free.
